AUTHORIZED OFFICERS AND AGENCIES
FOR CONTROL AND CERTIFICATION OF ORGANIC AGRICULTURE
In Spain, most of the Autonomous Communities in control and certification of organic products through Councils and Committees of Organic Agriculture, which are public bodies, and that in terms of Regulation 2092/91, are called authorities. However, three regions have in turn allowed private agencies to carry out these functions, Andalucia, Castilla La Mancha and Aragón.
Each Control Authority, in turn, is supervised by the Ministry of Agriculture, department or equivalent, in each Autonomous Community, which operates on a Competent Authority.
These agencies are deconcentrated bodies or corporations of public law. Their decision-making bodies are composed of representatives of the sector: producers, processors, importers from non-democratically elected from among the operators and consumers, agricultural associations and representatives of the administration.
